Sugar and Spice and All Things…Technological.
The following is an actual conversation that took place in my car this weekend.
“Bear, tell Grandma what you put on your apple this morning that you LOVED.”
“Cinnamon.” Bear says proudly.
“He put cinnamon on his apple and loved it.” I repeat proudly, as any mother might when their child tries something new.
“I don’t know what that is.” My mother says quizzically.
“What? Cinnamon?”
“Yea. What is that?”
“Cinnamon? Cinnamon!”
“What is cinnamon?”
“I don’t understand.” I say. Bewildered.
“I have no idea what that is. I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
It’s as though somewhere along the drive we had swapped my mom out for Borat.
“Seriously mom? Cinnamon? The spice? That you eat?”
“Oh!! Cinnamon. When you said apple, I thought you were talking about an Apple computer. I thought it was some new app.”
Dear Steve Jobs, If you happen to be hiring at the genius bar, please contact my mother.
