The List

August 27, 2010

Some of you may remember the famous friends episode where Ross and Rachel form a “list.” “The List” contained five people (famous people) they were allowed to hook up with if the opportunity should arise. It would be a day pass, so to speak, in their relationship. After this episode, couples everywhere began to compile their fantasy lists. Over the years my list would change. A new movie would come out, and a newer crush would replace older ones. The one thing I can say about my list, is it was always quite unique. I never chose the pretty boys, the Brad Pitts or the George Clooneys. I am just not cut from that cloth. I always had some odd ones on there, which should not come as a shock to any of my readers by this point.

At one point in my marriage Kid Rock was on my list. One night I had court side tickets to the Knicks game and he sat right next to me.
I remember calling my ex-husband from the Game.
“Bad news honey. I am sitting next to Kid Rock!” I say this, as though I had a chance.
“Out of all the people in America that dirt bag is on your list and now you’re sitting next to him! Why can’t you have a normal list like regular people?” I believe at the time he had Gwyneth Paltrow.
Kid, as i like to refer to him, was with Sheryl Crow, his girlfriend at the time. Not that it would have mattered as I didn’t have implants or lucite heels, which seemed to be a requirement for him.
In case you were wondering, Kid is no longer on my list.

I was telling my friend Gary (yes Gary, you get not one but two mentions this week) about my list and who was on it. I disclosed that both Christian Bale and Christopher Moltisanti were on my list.
“Interesting.” He said. “So you have two mass murderers both with names that derive from the word Christ.”
Huh. What an unbelievably astute observation. Well, it would certainly be consistent with this entry: Mr. Wrong Right Now

Who is on your list?

Pfft. It’s not like you have Anthony Hopkins or anything. Now that would be creepy.
