Real Texts From Real Men

November 1, 2010

I was asked out by a guy who I never really followed up with. I just didn’t think he was for me. The following is how he chose to proceed..via text. Odd choice if you ask me, and or anyone else really…

“Darcy! What’s up? I tried to make a plan with you and it never worked out and now another month has gone by and we still haven’t gotten together! I thought for sure that by now we’d be coming over to each other’s apartments for booty calls, right?…”

Crick-ets.

For those of you who were wondering if chivalry was dead, now you know. It is. It’s more dead than the horse this guy keeps beating by continually asking me out with little response. Had this come only one day earlier I may have been able to stay on my fast for at least ten more days. Similar to the fat picture people tape to their fridge to keep them on their diet, this could have been my reminder of why I was fasting to begin with (See: Dating Detox & Breaking The Fast).

I don’t see what’s so hard about replying to someone and saying not interested and please don’t contact me again.

The first time I am polite, but if you keep asking after that I don’t think I need to keep explaining or being polite.

Funny! When I started writing Darcy one of my guy friends pointed out that “real texts from real men” should really be called “real texts from actual men” as “real men” wouldn’t send such texts. Thanks for your comment!
